Auckland War Memorial Museum and Auckland Domain

This museum is a treasure trove of New Zealand’s history and culture, with a diverse range of exhibits, including interactive displays like an earthquake simulation. There is an excellent, authentic Maori cultural performance everyday by the local Ngati Whatua Iwi or tribe:  Auckland Museum

Auckland museum is located in a magnificent inner city park, known as the Auckland Domain. Among many other things,  it includes two enormous Art Deco style glass houses in the Wintergarden, one ambient and one tropical and you can also do a short nature walk here:  Auckland Domain.

Auckland Art Gallery

Auckland Art Gallery or Toi O Tamaki is a beautiful building, combining the old with the new and is home to New Zealand’s largest art collection, alongside visiting exhibitions. Entry is free, as are some of the daily tours!  Auckland Art Gallery

New Zealand Maritime Museum

As well as fabulous exhibits and displays that showcase New Zealand’s pioneering voyages and Americas Cup successes, you can book a sailing on one of their vintage yachts: New Zealand Maritime Museum

MOTAT (Museum of Transport and Technology)
